In our inquiry into who we are, we spent a lot of time looking into the United Nation's Convention on Rights of Children. We read a document that simplified the rights for children so that it was easy to understand. We watched short animation films and listened to stories on children and then tried to identify the rights that were connected to the films and the stories. It led to interesting discussions on child labour.
Questions came up, such as what is a refugee?
Do different countries have different ages for the right to education?
Some students shared their experiences in other countries where they had seen children begging on streets instead of being safe at home.
TAIYO: We watched some videos in the class about rights.
Example: one of the children rights is: getting protected and treated nicely in all countries.
