We looked again this week at 'print in our environment' and how we can interpret it. The students analysed the text features in the poster for the 'sense of place' competition. Please encourage your child to take part in this competition. They can use their 'work on writing' time in class to work on their piece after the break.
We continued thinking about the use of adverbs in sentences and tried to finish off any outstanding writing. The students are choosing pieces to publish and therefore going back and revising and editing previous work. We continued with cursive handwriting and spelling routines.
We continued this week with shape and space work. We thought about the properties of triangles and how triangles can be different from each other, and also quadrilaterals. This led into discussions about parallel lines and angles. The students made 'angle eaters' and did a hunt for right angles in our environment. We also looked for angles bigger and smaller than right angles.
Unit of Inquiry
Sam brought in his cello on Monday to share. The other studnets wre very interested in how it works, what it's made of and the kind of sounds it can produce.
This week, the students chose an idea to represent with sounds in the Garageband programme. The purpose was to think about how the tool affects how they can express the idea.
The students updated their portfolios. Each post requires many steps. The students are getting quicker at independently creating posts and are developing their technological fluency.
After the break, we will start our 'where we are in time and palce' unit of inquiry.
The students enjoyed visiting the Grade Five Market Day on Tuesday!
We are a Grade 3 class in Singapore. We hope you enjoy sharing our learning journey with us this year. Our class teacher is Ms. Vicky and our Teacher's Assistant is Ms. Noreen.
